Occupational health nurse at Norre

Working in an innovative community like Norre provides a unique opportunity for an occupational health nurse. As a nurse, you get to create something new and have an impact on your own work. Your expertise is valued, and you are heard.

Results from a survey conducted by the Occupational Health Nurse Association (2023) reveal that the most significant stressors for occupational health nurses in their work are the number of clients, time pressure, insufficient resources, and digital systems. Performance targets also emerge as a stress factor. At Norre, billing is not based on the quantity of services, and nurses are not given specific billing targets in euros. You can schedule and plan your work flexibly. There is undoubtedly a lot of change and development at Norre, much like learning something new. However, I see it purely as positive and inspiring. At Norre, the goal is for the working hours of occupational health professionals to be used as efficiently as possible for the right things.

Occupational health nurses perform a lot of work that cannot be billed in its entirety to the client. A significant part of this work involves various planning tasks, report writing, and other documentation. Many nurses have developed a habit of doing paperwork at the end of the workday when phones are no longer ringing, and clients are not knocking on the door. Norre aims to develop a system that serves both us professionals and our clients in the best possible way. The goal is to reduce the amount of documentation while improving the quality of reports and texts. Clients will be offered an easy-to-use system with survey tools to easily handle their part, such as workplace surveys or health checkups. Occupational health nurses at Norre also participate in the development of the system.

Multi-professional collaboration is an established practice in occupational health. Working as a team with an occupational health physician is the cornerstone of preventive work and healthcare. This collaboration can be done flexibly and cost-effectively by clearly defining each person's responsibilities and utilizing the opportunities offered by information technology. Traditionally, a third professional in the occupational health team is a work physiotherapist, who will also play a significant role at Norre. The partnership network for occupational psychologists and other experts is still being formed at Norre.

At Norre, multi-professionalism goes beyond just the collaboration of occupational health professionals. The core of system development involves software developers, and salespeople, in turn, bring us work. In weekly meetings and throughout the workweek, we seek advice and opinions from each other. I have not collaborated to this extent with a sales team or software experts in my previous workplaces. It has been extremely useful to discuss occupational health operations with individuals who do not do it professionally. Collaboration develops one's thinking and expands it. Joint contemplation also enhances team spirit and the well-being of the work community, which is an important value and goal for Norre's entire operation.

Norre is the workplace for an occupational health nurse in the 2020s and the future, for someone who wants to learn new things and shake up routines. There are many opportunities in implementing occupational health when we listen to clients' wishes and dare to do new things.
